Nail biting
is generally one of those habits that tend to start in childhood and
many people feel that it is a 'part' of them that they appear to have
no control over. Like many habits, when I have helped clients who
bite their nails they do find themselves 'unconsciously' bringing
their hands to their mouth without realising they are actually doing
it. At some point the realisation is then made that you are biting
your nails but by then its too late and the damage has been done.
There can be different
reasons why nail biting is started but the fact is that conventional
medicine cannot help in stopping the habit. The nail biting habit continues
because your unconscious mind has always accepted this as a natural
habit and therefore moving your hand to your mouth is done automatically
without conscious thought.
Hypnotherapy
as you are now aware if you have read the sections on the unconscious
and conscious parts of our minds on this web site deals directly with
this automatic, unconscious, part of our minds to effect the changes
we want. Therapy directly deals with the unconscious, automatic part
of your mind which is largely responsible for the nail biting, the part
you have very little control over consciously.
Communication takes place with the unconscious, or the 'part' of you
that is responsible for the nail biting and in a calm and relaxing way
negotiates and changes the nail biting habit permanently.
I have had great success with reversing the nail biting habit for people
and some have contacted me again to change or make better other aspects
of their lives; but visiting me with a pride in their strong, healthy,
natural nails that they now admire and take pride in.
Generally clients
respond very quickly to therapy with nail biting and within two sessions
have stopped the habit. Occasionally certain clients like to revisit
me at certain periods for a 'top-up' but that is completely at the
discretion of the client. I have found that nail biting can be quite
embarrassing for some clients, they may be professional people who
have to be involved with giving presentations or attending meetings;
it can become frustrating and distressing for them to continue with
the habit. You will find, as they did, that there is now no longer
any need to have to continue with the habit when hypnotherapy is available
to help you.
